Hello class,
My name is Mr. Woods and welcome to my electronic presence.
I am originally from Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Slippery Rock University with a B.S. in Secondary Education in 2011. After a few years of teaching, I returned to SRU online for my MA in History, which I earned in December of 2016.
My preferred focus is Ancient and Medieval history and culture with an exceptional interest in cultural and religious history. I find mythology (from all backgrounds) fascinating, and have dedicated a large portion of my career to their study. I have recently begun study of local customs, traditions, and literature of ancient and medieval people in an effort to further understand the beliefs of the people.
This is my 7th year teaching at KGMS, and my 6th year in World History, as well as teaching the Honors World History course. I hold the position of Social Studies Department Chair, as well as Academic Dean, and do my best to ensure the success of all students.
I am a father to my extraordinary son, Bowen, a beautiful daughter, Cecelia. I am married to my best-friend, and I have two incredible pets (a dog and a cat).
I am a gamer, and play on both Xbox One and PC. I am also an outdoorsman and help run the Outdoor club with Mr. Fike and Mr. Limbrick. Aside from that, I spend my free time reading about history, mythology, and world religion, as well as genres from fantasy to historical fiction. I am a HUGE fan of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Sherlock, The Office, Harry Potter, and Doctor Who. I enjoy classical literature and poetry.
My class is challenging and demanding, but as my idol once said...
